Fulston Flies The Flag For Fairtrade

Year 10 students, Hannah Haith and Charlotte Dyke recently took over a Year 7 English lesson to make a presentation about Fairtrade products and the reasoning behind Fairtrade. When planning their work they wrote to the South East Regional Co-op and asked for a contribution towards purchasing some Fairtrade chocolate which they were both thrilled to receive.

The girls showed an informative film set in Ghana to the Year 7s, followed by a Fairtrade chocolate tasting session where students were asked to chose their favourite – the outcome being that both chocolates were lovely but that the ethical side of buying Fairtrade outshone the other brand. A question and answer session followed with a prizes of bars of Fairtrade chocolate. Mrs Palmer said “Hannah and Charlotte made an excellent presentation – so much so that I have asked them to repeat it during Fairtrade Fortnight next February. The Year 7s were so interested and asked many intelligent and probing questions”.
