Accommodation and Resources:
The MFL department is based in R6, R7 and R8; all rooms are fitted with an interactive smart board, DVD player, amplifier and projector. The students work from the Expo series of text books, audio files and authentic materials and are also able to use internet resources such as Linguascope. The department has its own laptop trolley.
Curriculum:
All students in Years 7-11 study French. By studying a language to GCSE level alongside the other core subjects, they will be able to achieve the English Baccalauréat in Year 11.
At Key Stage 3 (Years 7 & 8) students follow the new National Curriculum, covering a wide range of topics and situations. In Year 9, students work on modules covering Home and the Environment and Work and Education (including careers and future jobs).
Key Stage 4 students continue using the Expo range of resources to follow the current AQA GCSE languages curriculum and work on modules covering Home & Environment, Leisure, Work & Education and Lifestyle.
Extra-Curricular Activities:
GCSE French workshops are held on Fridays (Week 2) after school and a Key Stage 3 French homework club is available on Tuesdays after school.
Extended opportunities for learning have included a theatre production from “Dan Roro” the French clown for all Year 7 students.
