World Book Day
The School Library will be getting involved by running competitions, and giving a chocolate biscuit to every Year 7 and 8 student who borrows a book at lunchtime. Staff will also be reading short stories to their classes throughout the day and setting reading homeworks to highlight the importance of reading across the curriculum. A quiz for staff will raise money for QuizAid which buys books for children in Africa.

Throughout the week Years 7 and 8 students will receive a £1 voucher which they can use in bookshops either to buy the specially produced World Book Day book, or to put towards a more expensive book. They can also be used with the school's book club leaflet which contains a wide selection of discounted books. Older students who would like a £1 voucher can get them from Mrs. Evans.

The website www.worldbookday.com has a wealth of activities, competitions, interviews and discussions. This year there is also a free World Book Day App which is a collection of short stories by authors like Malorie Blackman, Neil Gaiman, Anthony Horowitz, Rachel Vincent, Sophie McKenzie and Charlie Higson
