Spike Longlisted For Iggy Award

Following on from his success at winning one of the top prizes of the Jacob Illahi Creative Writing competition, Spike has done it again. Having submitted his story to another literary competition, this time the international IGGY awards, Hales student Spike was longlisted (meaning the top ten) out of 500 young people from around the world. He was the youngest entrant in the long list and his story was about memories and friendships.

The awards were presented at The Shard building in London and Spike travelled with his Grandma, Moira, and Dad, Dom, who were quite rightly very proud of him - even though he didn’t win he still achieved 7th place. Spike said, “It was incredibly interesting and a real privilege to be at The Shard for the awards. I got to read all of the other longlisted and shortlisted entries and learnt even more about different styles of writing. I am now going to explore even more ways of writing myself and will continue with my fiction as that uses my creativity at the same time”.
