On Friday, 17 November, five sixth form students attended a conference hosted by the London Institute of Banking and Finance at HSBC, Canary Wharf, to Inspire Women in Banking. Year 13's Claire, Charley Goodger, Hazel Williams, Chloe S and Chloe W, had an opportunity to hear from a range of women professionals at HSBC and learn about their jobs and diverse paths into a career in banking.  The students were very inspired by a talk from Ian Stuart, CEO UK HSBC, about his career and the importance to be aware of current affairs.

HSBC staff in the afternoon, ran a workshop on employability skills which provided valuable interview tips, such as using the STAR technique, how to avoid common CV mistakes and the importance of networking. The conference inspired each student to look into a career in banking and widened they views about their future pathways. Chloe W said “ I found the whole experience really useful. It was helpful to understand what’s on offer and all of the different job roles available. It’s really given me something to think about”.
