Year 7 student, Harriette Phillips, is taking the dancing world by storm.

Year 7 student, Harriette Phillips, is taking the dancing world by storm. Harriette represented her dance school, Dancy Envy who are based in Rochester, and travelled to the world renowned Blackpool Tower Ballroom where she performed in both the Latin and Ballroom All England Championships 2020. The talented Stanhope student joined 149 other hopefuls on 8th February and was more than pleased to get down to the last six finalists. Harriette has been dancing since she was 6 years old and spends hours each week practising her skills, supported by her parents and little sister. Harriette said “Rumba is my favourite dance by far as it has slow, graceful movements but I love everything there is about Ballroom and Latin. I sometimes have to dance as the male in formation dancing which is also fun, but I prefer solo dancing”. Both Ballroom and Latin skills were performed in abundance and Harriette was absolutely delighted to take first place for both genres during her weekend away in the iconic dance hall, collecting two huge trophies in the U12 categories to add to other trophies she has collected over the past few months.
