Fulston Staff And Students Say Thank You

History teacher, Miss Hubbard has been working doubly hard throughout the lockdown. Not only does she teach, she has also been raising funds for the NHS and providing facemasks and goodies for the incredible staff at Medway Maritime Hospital. During the first lockdown Miss Hubbard asked friends, family and Church members for donations to help buy hand creams and moisturisers for NHS staff. The response she had was overwhelming and she managed to raise over £500! Continuing along this course of action ex-student Miss Hubbard has raised a further £200+ which has bought more items to be donated.

She said, “I wanted to take on the challenge of raising more money for NHS staff like I did in the first lockdown. I chose Medway Hospital as that is where my auntie was admitted over the Christmas period and because of the amazing staff, she is now home and recovering! This was a way that I could support the NHS for all their work during this pandemic, as well as offering my own personal thanks to them for looking after my auntie. When I was in school last week, Year 8 students, Ruby and Isabelle were both keen to create some kind of thank you poster for me to add in with the face masks that I was donating. Left to their own devices to create their thank you note, Ruby and Isabelle at the end of the day both presented beautiful posters. Ruby’s poster also included a thoughtful poem that she wrote by herself that certainly bought a tear to my eye. Later that evening when I took the face masks and posters to Medway Hospital, the lady who met me was so grateful for the children’s thoughtful gesture!

Mrs Palmer, said “Miss Hubbard is a highly valued member of our staff and we are so proud of her achievements and, of course, Ruby and Isabelle for their contribution. The wonderful staff at the Medway Maritime, along with every other front line worker in the country, deserve our praise and support. To each and every one of you out there, we salute you”.
