Stanhope student Poppy travelled to Blackpool last weekend to dance at the Winter Gardens in the I.D.T.A National Dance finals. Dancing against 100 other contestants Poppy’s Mum said “Poppy qualified for this back in April through the regional heats and I am very pleased and proud to announce that not only did she defend her title but improved it and is now ranked 4th in Britain for freestyle disco in her age category!” The Year 7 student is also ranked, nationally, at 4^th in the Rock and Roll dance genre and is part of the Helen K School of Dance. Poppy told Mrs Palmer how much she enjoyed dancing and said “ I have been dancing since I was 8 and love every second of it but freestyle disco is my favourite. We all had a great time.” Poppy is also Junior Miss Sheppey Princess and has been involved in a multitude of events which has increased her confidence substantially.
