Comic Relief Red Nose Day 2013

The Fulston Harlem Shake kicked off our Red Nose Day activities on Thursday 14th March with a fantastic performance by 100 students and staff. Mr Waterman was our awesome lead dancer and, although his disco days still shone through, it was Aaron Denniss who won ‘The Coolest Person in Fulston’ award for his back flip to end the dance.

There was also a Football match between Sixth Form students and staff. Staff could only use their non-dominant foot so that the Sixth Formers would have a chance of winning! This was never to be, even though there were four Year 13 girls in goal! Mr Deeks and Mr Abbott were frequently sent off by our very strict ref, Dannea Wright. The final score was 6-2 and ‘Man’ of the Match went to a very deserving Amie Sheppard who wore her red nose with pride throughout! Thanks goes to all the members of The Young Co-operatives Group who, let’s face it, aren’t known for their sporting prowess but gave it 100% for this great cause.

Other activities were a staring competition won by James Buck and a Cup Song competition won by the very talented Daisy Bell. Mrs R Stanley has ruined her diet by winning the ‘guess the number of sweets in a jar’ competition guessing 287 sweets which was only one off the correct number. The delicious red nose cupcakes baked by Mrs Bradford and the Catering staff went down a storm and every last one was eaten – all in aid of the charity, of course!

A grand total of £451 was raised and Mrs Palmer, Community Cohesion Manager, would like to thank everyone who took part and especially those who organised events.
