Key Stage 3
Year 7 students will be placed into mixed ability classes for their induction (the first 8 days). Afterwards students will be set using information from Year 6. The teaching sets will be reviewed regularly throughout the student’s time at Fulston Manor School. We believe that setting enables staff to differentiate teaching more effectively and challenge students of all abilities.
In general, students in the Grammar band should be aiming for grades 9-7 at GCSE; in the Upper band students should be aiming for grades 9-5 and in the Intermediate band students should be aiming for grades 9-4.
Please note that GCSEs have recently undergone radical changes. Students in Years 7, 8 and 9 will be completing qualifications which are graded 1-9 (8 being equivalent to A*; 4 being equivalent to C).
Key Stage 3 teaching sets:
|General Teaching Set||Practical Teaching Set|
|Grammar Band||GM, GR, GL||A, B, C, D|
|Upper Band||UR, UM, UL||E, F, G|
|Intermediate Band||IR,IL||H, I|
|NB: R, L and M groups are equivalent.|
Games: G and I band are timetabled together to form Games groups 1 to 6 and U band forms games groups 7, 8 and 9.
Key Stage 4
