16 to 19 Study Programme

At Fulston Manor Sixth Form, every student follows a carefully structured and well-sequenced 16 to 19 study programme, designed to meet their prior attainment, starting points, and future aspirations. Each programme combines substantial academic or applied qualifications with enrichment, tutorial support, and personal development activities, ensuring students gain the knowledge, skills, and behaviours needed to progress successfully to their next steps.

Core Aim
Every student has a clearly defined core aim that is ambitious and appropriate. For most students, this is the completion of substantial Level 3 qualifications. Details of our subjects and course structure can be found in our Subject Information Booklet.

English and Mathematics
Students who have not achieved a GCSE grade 4 or above in English and/or Mathematics continue to study these subjects as part of their programme. High-quality teaching, targeted support, and regular monitoring ensure students can improve their literacy and numeracy skills and achieve these essential qualifications.

Work Experience and Personal Development
All students complete meaningful work experience in Term 6 of Year 12. Programmes also include a personal development curriculum, tutor time resources, and guidance on study habits and career planning. Careers events, a full-time Careers Advisor, and a range of external speakers provide expert advice and inspiration. Students benefit from strong links with Canterbury Christ Church University, as well as a variety of school-day and residential trips. These experiences complement academic study and help students develop resilience, confidence, character, and essential life skills while supporting progression to higher education, apprenticeships, or employment.
