On Saturday 1st October, Bradley (Year 10) and Max (Year 7) travelled to Ypres in Belgium to perform with St John Ambulance Band. The band are celebrating their 70th Anniversary this year and were invited to play at Menin Gate Ypres which is a memorial to 12,000 soldiers who lost their lives in battle during WWI.

In the early afternoon they visited the Tynecot Cemetery near Ypres which was rather emotional. Later in the afternoon the band performed in the main square of Ypres to a large crowd then finally they performed at the evening memorial service which has been a daily service since 1922. This service included representatives from the Australian Army and ex-servicemen from around the world.

The boys are part of the drum section and we feel they should feel very proud of themselves to play on such an occasion.

In November they will both perform at the Lord Mayors Show in London
