Year 8 Stanhope student, Elijah, has returned, exhausted, from playing in The Dallas Cup Football tournament over the Easter holidays with Kent Schools. The County schools team played matches in front of 100,000 spectators over the course of the week and Elijah said “I had the best time ever. We played four football matches in total, won two and lost two but it was seriously hot out there so that affected our performance. Everybody that played was really friendly and we ended up swapping numbers with new friends so will keep in touch with them”. Elijah has played football for as long as he can remember and plays Centre and Mid Field. He is looking forward to the U14 trials for Kent Schools later on this year so hopes to secure a place on the team again. It wasn’t all football out in Dallas though – Elijah loved visiting the local mall and treated his Dad to a cowboy hat!
