On Friday 6th October 2017, BoxClever Theatre arrived at the School to perform an adaptation of Mary Shelley’s “Frankenstein”, which was the culmination of many months’ collaborative work between professional actors and directors, and secondary students in Kent. Fulston have been lucky enough to host BoxClever several times during the past twelve months, and their GCSE Drama students participated enthusiastically in the rehearsal process. BoxClever is a professional theatre company, based in London, whose aim is to make high-quality theatre accessible to secondary students across the country. They certainly achieved this aim on Friday, with students from Borden Grammar School joining Fulston in their Millennium Hall to view the performance.
There was an audience of mostly GCSE and 6th form students, however some of the Year 9 students were lucky enough to be invited to watch the performance, and several were even more inspired to choose Drama at GCSE. Performing Arts teacher, Miss Zoe Hadok-Quadrio said “We are very proud of the work that the students put in during the rehearsal process, and obviously for their excellent conduct and ongoing ambassadorship for Fulston Manor School at such events”.
