Stayawake 2017
On Friday the 10th of November 150 6th Form students and 21 hardy staff took part in their annual all-night 'StayAwake', which meant staying in school, and obviously awake, from 7pm until 7am the next morning. The school have, yet again, smashed their fundraising target for Lepra which is a UK-registered international charity working to beat Leprosy that affects the most vulnerable people in the world, causing life-changing disabilities, but there is a cure
On Friday the 10th of November 150 6th Form students and 21 hardy staff took part in their annual all-night 'StayAwake', which meant staying in school, and obviously awake, from 7pm until 7am the next morning. The school have, yet again, smashed their fundraising target for Lepra which is a UK-registered international charity working to beat Leprosy that affects the most vulnerable people in the world, causing life-changing disabilities, but there is a cure.
During the night there were a variety of activities to keep the students awake including an energetic Zumba workout and a Pointless gameshow in the early hours. Mrs Crawford embodied Prue Leith, running a very successful ‘Bake-Off’ competition. Mr Patey showed tremendous endurance refereeing the 5-a-side football match, whilst Miss Davies, Head of 6th Form, led a fast-paced 2am Bench ball competition. Mr Rayfield continued to dazzle us with his wonderful artistic flairs by applying glitter to the majority of the 6th form faces throughout the night. The highlight of the night was the silent disco which has an array of different genres of music including some very cheesy tunes.
All students were amazing and raised funds far beyond the schools expectations. One particular student, Charlie Goodger, used her initiative and put a donations box on the counter at her place of work, the Bayleaf Café, collecting loose change and tips for a week adding a further £76 to the total. Overall figures are still being finalised however Miss Davies said that they are confident that it has been the most successful year yet raising approximately £5700 at the time of going to press. The most money raised was by Chelsea Broadway (Year 13) who brought in a whopping £170.
