Year 11 students Lexie and Ramone together with Year 8 Zoë have been riding high on their success at the Swale Combined Athletics Club awards ceremony. Zoë was delighted to be voted Sports Woman of The Year by her coaches. Year 11 Lexie, a relative new comer to the sport of hammer throwing, took the award for the Best Throw of The Year and, despite currently suffering from a nasty knee injury that has kept her in a brace for the last five weeks, was voted ‘Athletes Athlete’ by all of the other sportsmen and women within Swale Combined which is a true testament to her team work, dedication to the sport and friendship qualities. Ramone, an 800m runner, was the worthy winner of the Under 17 men’s age group and all three students had a fantastic time. The event, which took place on Saturday 25th November was held at Borden Village Hall. Lexie said “It was a long but brilliant night – it was great when we heard we had won these prizes – we are all very proud”.
