Melody Takes The Crown For 2018

Stanhope student Melody was crowned Senior Sheppey Princess on Saturday 24th February and is overjoyed.

Stanhope student Melody was crowned Senior Sheppey Princess on Saturday 24th February and is overjoyed. The Year 9 young lady had previously been a Junior Sheppey Princess and so is thrilled at the prospect of again representing the Isle Of Sheppey. Melody had four private interviews with the judges where she was asked why she would love to be on the carnival court as well as other questions. She then gave a short speech on stage about herself. After which there seemed to be a very long wait for the judge’s decision until she was selected & crowned princess by the Mayor & Mayoress. Sheppey’s new princess said “I am so happy. It’s great to be chosen to represent the area in which I live. I love everything about the island and am proud to call it home”. Melody will be spending the year touring Kent at the carnivals (including Sittingbourne 23 June & Sheppey 18 August) and selection evenings. She'll also be fundraising by taking part in a 10 mile sponsored walk.

It certainly is a year for Melody as there is a possibility that a full length feature film, in which she acted, will be released. The film, 2:HRS, although made a couple of years ago, was recently bought and it is hoped that it will be in cinemas by the end of 2018. Watch this space…
