Fashion Blogs Bring Amazing Opportunities For Katie

6th Form student Katie Upton started blogging last June as she wanted to share her views and opinions about the beauty and fashion industry and hasn’t looked back since. A keen follower of fashion, Katie has 10,000 readers of her blogs from around the world and has even been recognised by strangers. Visiting ‘Summer in The City’, which is Europe’s largest YouTube convention and is held at ExCel London, Katie even got recognised by a complete stranger who approached her to say hello. Katie was also spotted by a music producer during her work placement on the Jeremy Vine BBC Radio 2 show, a wonderful experience and something she found fascinating. The Year 12 student has collaborated with the likes of River Island, Quiz, Charles Tyrwhitt and Altruist Sun Care and has, only this week, been approached by Shilpa Ahiya who runs a top Indian Fashion magazine and would like to feature Katie as her ‘Blogger of the week’.

Katie has recently applied for a summer internship with Royist who run a Global Life Style Magazine and who are a leading boutique concierge offering luxury lifestyle management services to select members worldwide. However, up against graduates from University, Katie found that she was being offered the job of Haute Couture Assistant Editor and not an internship, a post she could only ever have dreamt of at this stage in her life. The magazine launches on Monday 30th April and Katie is incredibly excited to be part of this journey from the start.

The future is looking very rosy and Katie is planning on going to Southampton, Solent University when she finishes her GCEs at Fulston. This University is the only one in Europe to offer the Beauty Promotion course which covers every aspect of fashion and so she will be working hard to get the grades necessary to realise her dreams. In the meantime she has been invited to London’s Men’s Fashion Week in June as an official fashion reporter and so will gain invaluable experience for her chosen career path.

Mrs Palmer said “We wish Katie every bit of luck possible. She is a hard worker and has the determination and drive to succeed”.  You can find her blog at www.katiesummersfashion.blogspot.co.uk
