Year 7 Cromer student, Grace Roe, has recently taken the U13 Preliminary Championship trophy in Irish Dancing. Competing in her first Open Feis Grace travelled to Essex on 20th January to compete against 18 other Irish Dancers in her age category and duly took the winning trophy. Grace has been dancing since she was 7 and now has over 70 trophies and over 170 medals to her name. She trains three times a week in different venues in Medway and clocks up an impressive 5 1/2 hours per week honing her dancing skills. Grace is very passionate about her hobby “I love dancing. Mum did it when she was younger so was happy when I said I wanted to take it up. I really love the dresses and the makeup. The dress I wore recently was very expensive but it was my first new dress as we had always bought second hand in the past. We travel to Newcastle to get the dresses and see a lovely man who also does make up for the dancers” Mum, Sharon, said “this has been a huge personal achievement for Grace and her dance school, Reel Eire, and we are all very proud of her”. Grace’s next Preliminary competition is in March so watch this space.
