A number of our Year 12 students have volunteered to visit South Avenue Primary School each week, during their free periods, to help improve literacy levels. Each week the students offer 1:1 reading with the Primary School pupils and are hoping that, with their encouragement, the youngsters reading ages will increase. Sam Stears, photographed with one of the South Avenue Students, said “It’s really nice to be able to, hopefully, make a difference to these children’s skills. I’m enjoying going to South Avenue and hope to continue my volunteering with them for the rest of this term, at least”.
