Two members of staff took part in the Jurassic Coast Mighty Hike from Weymouth to Corfe Castle over the weekend commencing 9th July. Gareth Abbott and Rachel Nichols undertook the walk to raise money for Macmillen Cancer in support of Gareth’s father who had been diagnosed with Prostate Cancer. Ms Nichols said “It was a good day but very, very challenging with steep inclines and declines which took some competitors out of the hike. We managed to complete the hike in 10 hours but Gareth could have finished a lot quicker. We had said that we would wait for each other before crossing the finish line so we could finish together but Gareth ended up having to wait at every stop for his brother and me to catch up. However, we all walked across the line together with a big smile on our faces”.

Mr Abbott said “The photographs do show just how steep the course became and we had to go up on our hands and knees at times. We were just glad that we didn’t stumble sideways, otherwise we would have been off the side of the cliff.”.
