Fulston Manor School Sixth Form Business and Finance students were privileged to be visited by Joe Lynam an awarding winning BBC broadcaster on Friday 31st January. Joe gave an inspiring overview of his life and career, how he overcame obstacles - such as 'not fitting the profile' - to follow his dream and become a global broadcaster. He gave the students a few key points to follow in life: know your material, you never know when you will have to work ‘unscripted’; develop the personal characteristics to be a risk taker, be passionate about what you love, go around problems. But most of all, ‘be nice to those on the way up because you may meet them on the way down’. All of the students were grateful to be able to hear Joe’s story which encouraged them to be confident in what they eventually choose to do in life.
