James Goldsmith, a Year 7 Stanhope student, has recently travelled to Great Yarmouth to compete in the UK under 18 Inter-County Pool Championship. He played in the Team event where they came second and also won individual matches. James, 12, has been playing pool since he was 5 years old, following in the footsteps of his Dad who is also a skilled pool played. James said “I practise every day if I can. We have a pool table at home. When I’m not practising, I play football and train twice a week for that”. When talking to James and congratulating him he just, modestly, threw into the conversation that he was the best junior in the county at pool and that he was ranked Number 1!!! We will all be watching how James’ pool career takes off now. Well done that boy!!
