Year 10 students were taken out of their daily routine on Tuesday 6th December to learn about the whys and wherefores of prison life and the facts and consequences of becoming involved in antisocial or criminal behaviour. Prison! Me! No Way! was set up by former prison officers to teach young people between Years 8 and 10 what making the right choice in life can mean for the youngsters futures. The multi-agency Crime and Safety Awareness day included high impact workshops, role plays, drama and even entertainment. The sessions also included an honest and brutal account from an ex offender who told the students how spending 21 years in prison made him realise how important respecting others and a good education can mean to where people end up in life. Alisha said “ I found hearing about prison life intriguing. It’s not somewhere I want to ever go!” and Jaiden commented “ The Street Scene session was really good at pointing out what antisocial behaviour is and how it can affect others”.
