Not one to sit back and let others do the work Henry Hurley, a Year 10 Cromer student, has organised a petition to ask the Government for a new train line for the Island, linking Leysdown with Sheerness. Living in Warden, Henry struggles with a one and a half hour journey to school – a bus journey to Sheerness and then a train to Sittingbourne. Henry has put together a route and stops for the proposed train, serving Leysdown, Eastchurch, Kingsborough Manor, The Leas and Sheerness. He said “It would be great for people who can’t drive or are fed up with getting stuck in traffic. I haven’t got as far as pricing yet but have written to South-Eastern Trains although haven’t received a reply just yet”. Henry needs 10,000 signatures for the government to respond.
